A Ferrari Daytona SP3 that was put up for sale by RM Sotheby’s broke a record after being sold for US$ 26 million during the Monterey Car Week last weekend.

The Daytona SP3 debuted as part of Ferrari‘s Icona series in 2021, with the automaker producing only 599 units at an initial price of around US$ 2.25 million.

This means it was sold by the auction house for a price 10 times higher than its market value. However, it is important to note that the profit will be donated to charity, benefiting the Ferrari Foundation, an organization that supports education.

The model is new and was made by Ferrari right after the production of the initial 599 units of the series. The car features custom-made exposed carbon fiber and yellow paint with the Ferrari logo throughout the car, along with a personalized interior with rearing horses.

RM Sotheby’s confirmed that this is the most expensive new Ferrari ever sold at auction, and it was their biggest result at the Monterey event. The second most expensive car was another Ferrari, a F40 LM, which was sold for just over US$ 11 million.
